Red Desert - Chuang Che-Wei Solo Exhibition

From 2010 to early 2011, Chuang Che-Wei has been exhibited in many important international shows for the first time overseas, including December 2010 “Taiwan Calling” organised by NTMoFA in Hungary, and “Taiwan Contemporary Art”, opened in 2011 in Italy. The artwork seemed to be creating a specific space with drawings; yet it is about how to describe visually “fear” and “desire” with the content of drawings. Thus there are many narrative image groups repeated in the fragmented drawings.

These images were extracted from our common media such as film, television, newspaper and magazines, with an image of a negative utopian. Using plastic transformation, these images became unrooted paranoia murmurs. This is the core question from his drawing practice, “what is the linguistic activation in drawings?”.

Throw creating certain atmosphere in the space, and the movement between individual images, he created a possible condition to view the events; thus making time more effective. Can “Image - Time” inspire a creative potential plastic event?
